I’ve seen that impact up close in three ways. First, as a kid in the St. Croix Valley, I had access to arts education and professional theatre because Festival made it possible. Then, just out of college, I worked there in their internship program and learned what it really takes to make professional art and to hold myself accountable as a professional artist alongside the team. It takes long hours, teamwork, and persistence. Years later, the company is still providing me with different life lessons and opportunities for arts education as an adult. As the executive artistic director of this company, not only do I ensure the continued growth and excellence of our art and artists, but I navigate the complexities of running a successful non-profit organization in rural Wisconsin focused on providing accessible professional art to its communities.
