Every day of the year, the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota provides expert medical and rehabilitation care to injured, sick, and orphaned wild animals. We are one of the oldest wildlife hospitals in the nation, and our experienced team delivers expert medical and rehabilitation care to over 22,000 patients annually.
But at our core, we are a community-powered organization:
-You are the ambulance drivers who bring us injured, sick, or orphaned animals.
-You are the volunteers who are essential to our operations. Our staff works with an incredible team of 500+ volunteers and 75 interns to meet the needs of our animals.
-You fund our work. We receive no state or federal operating funds.
From treating a swan for lead toxicity to repairing a turtle’s broken shell, we are here to meet the needs of our local wildlife. As Executive Director Tami Vogel says, “Whether you are bringing in a patient, supporting us financially, or simply sharing our social media, compassion is at the heart of our work.”
Together, we make healing possible—one wild life at a time.
What's new at WRC?
-Catch up on our latest projects in our Fall Newsletter.
-We have begun construction on a new LEED-certified rehabilitation campus, a huge and important step to meet the communities growing need for our services! Click the "From 46 to 46" tab above to see more!
-One of the most heartwarming stories of the year was WRC's effort to reunite a lost beaver kit with its family.
-This summer, Australian veterinarian Dr. Andrew Hill visited WRC as part of his Winston Churchill Fellowship studying the world's busiest wildlife hospitals. Hear from him and WRC's medical director Dr. Renee Schott about what this project means to the future of wildlife medicine.
-Earlier this year, Governor Walz approved a statewide Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) surveillance effort in which WRC is the primary collection site. We are also participating in 2 other studies with the University of Minnesota and the University of Georgia to track and understand the virus as it moves through wild populations.
Our patients may not be able to say thank you, but we can. On behalf of all of our team and the animals in our care, thank you!
