$50,000 Goal

Innovation, Choice. Opportunity to flourish! Join us to expand social and vocational opportunities for people with disabilities, and help us continue to feed our neighbors!

Lesson from 2025-2026, life is unpredictable so let’s be ready for anything! While we are not sure exactly what is in store for the people we support, we do know that our volunteers’ commitment to resourceful, creative, hard work is as strong as ever!

Once more, two big drives this year! We hope you help us raise money for the Food For All Fund, and the Scholarship Fund for new people to access Community Homestead opportunities.

Food For All. If people are hungry: feed them:  We grow it, bake it, cook it and distribute it to those that need it. You help us pay for the costs. Working closely with Osceola Open Cupboard, and food distributions in the twin cities, organic, fresh food gets right out onto people’s plates. This has been particularly important this winter in the twin cities. No one should go hungry in such a beautiful growing area.

People with “disabilities” who need support to shine are the ones who are helping grow, create and distribute. Empathy and compassion is a super power around here. There is a balance in receiving and giving help that highlights our common humanity. And we like that. We hope you do too.

Scholarship Fund: People need to come and spread their wings: let them come

DHS funding for people in Minnesota has been devastated by recent political events. Millions have been cut. In Wisconsin, it’s better but funding is not always available. And meanwhile young people need to take their first steps out of their family home, make friends, try new things, discover their own power, empower themselves. Right on the border here in the valley, our neighbors are on both sides of the state line. Help us create opportunities to Access Life, regardless of politics, state lines, OR income!

For the past 30 years, you have helped us develop a beautiful, simple, and sustainable place just outside Osceola, where people with disabilities can flourish and contribute. This is a responsible and generous lifestyle where long term relationships are made both with long and short term, international and American, residential volunteers who share memories and look to the future together. We live our practical idealism so it can become reality.

"Community Homestead is a slice of heaven. It enables my sisters to have their own life story…"

-Brigette Schauls

"People who have heard for years what they cannot do, are now appreciated for what they can offer and allowed to be themselves.  And, isn’t that what we all want in life?"

-Mary Tomes (sister/board member)
